When considering an interior design firm or individual to work with, the best way to know what their style and professional quality will be is to see samples of their work.  Even if they are a brand new designer, they will have a portfolio to share of their work.  This will allow individuals to take a look at what the designer is good at and how well they meet the needs of those that are buying their service.  When you are the one considering the designer, you will want to look at the big picture as well as the small one.  You’ll want to see if you enjoy the overall presentation that the portfolio is providing as well as the details that are included in the displayed spaces.

 

It is also helpful to find individuals that are able to provide references to their work.  Or, if they can not, then you can almost always find information about the individual or the firm from online consumer reviews.  These things will help an individual to learn how well the professional did. Did they do their job to the standards of the clientele?  Did they stay within their allotted budget?  Did their project stay on time or did it run over?  These are things that you will want answers for before you hand over your project to any designer.

 

In Los Angeles, there are many interior design individuals and firms that can be called on to meet the needs of those that are interested.  Give them a call and ask to meet with them in the space that you are considering.  Interview them and ask them to do a proposal for you.  This will allow you to see just what their vision for the space is and if this is what makes you happy. 

 

You should always sign a detailed contract with the interior design individual too.  You will want to insure that he or she will provide a high quality result and that you will pay them on time.  You should insure that there are stipulations in there about making revisions, affording for extra time and expense as well as allowing for problems to be fixed as necessary.
