what color should I paint it?

My master bath has a green marble shower, green marble around the tub, and green marble vanity tops. The marble has darker green lines running through it, as well as black. It is fairly dark marble. Dh wants to put in a whitish tile on the floor and halfway up the wall, kind of a roman tile with roman accents. I have picked most of the colors for my house except for that bath- The room is fairly small so too much darkness might make it seem smaller. Also, my living room is going to be a medium brown, the staircase leading to the master bedroom is in the living room, should I paint the wall up the stairs the same brown? Or maybe a darker brown? Or a totally different color? Thanks, I am a bit overwhelmed, this is my first build from scratch, so every room must be decorated!

I think that white might be too stark against the dark green, perhaps a neutral light shade would soften the stone and briing in a little light. Also, if the stairs flow directly from the living room, I'd keep the color the same so that it all flows. If you want to add a different shade, you can always paint the facing wall at the top of the stairs a lighter shade (like an accent wall) for definition of the area, but use a shade from the same color strip because the color should coordinate as it will be visible from the living room too.

I agree with ju ju about the bathroom, you don't want a stark contrast against the green, maybe a light beige will complement the dark green without being too dark. However, on the stairs - medium brown is quite dark and hallways tend to be too narrow and dark for dark colors. I would paint it a lighter shade of brown or if you wanted to go bold, maybe a pale blue. I wouldn't go darker or might look like a tunnel.
