my daughter has a dark purple/ wine color bedspread. we are thinking about accenting it with gold and black pillows what woudl be a good color for the walls? any ideas.thanks

I'm picturing pale gold or amber in a lighter shade than the gold pillows so it's not too overpowering.

I was thinking, a two tone "sueded" faux finish might tone down the gold. A pale "butter" color base then lightly brush on a light brown, then dab or rag off. Gives an antique look.

I just saw a picture on an advertisement with a black and gold bedspread, a deep maroon/burgundy coverlet, pale butter yellow sheets, and the background was painted a pale cream/buttery yellow color. Looked really nice & it made me think of your question.
