nail holes
vogue80
Hi! I want to move a couple of pictures around in my bedroom but I am worried about the visible holes left in the wall due to the nails. How can I hide them? Thanks!

Are you asking how to patch nail holes or what to use to camaflage where they were?

If you walls are white, use some toothpaste.

Yes, for white walls the white toothpaste is a handy fix. If you don't have any left over paint to cover a patch with, take a small sample of the paint (flake or scrape it off with a razor from an inconspicuous corner) about the size of a quarter and go to the paint counter of your nearest home store (Home Depot, Lowe's...). They can match the color with a computer, but usually the smallest size they will sell is a quart can. Get a small container of quick-dry spackle, a cheap putty knife, and a pkg of nails w/slanted hooks specifically for hanging pictures (for when you re-hang the pictures). Use the smallest nails that will hold the pictures to make them easier to patch next time. Fill the nail holes with spackle, smooth over it with the putty knife and let dry (if you use the colored spackle it changes to white when it's dry). If you have smooth walls, then lightly sand the patch until it blends, then paint over the patch. It may not be a perfect match, but should at least camouflage the patch. If you have textured walls, dab at the spackle while damp and try to mimic the type texture. If you have wallpapered walls, you might could take a small patch from an inconspicuous area and patch it in over the holes with a tiny dab of school glue, paste, glue stick, or craft glue, and try to line up the pattern. P.S. If you're not sure exactly where to relocate the pictures, cut out a piece of paper the same size as the pictures, tape them on the wall until you get the right location & height, measure and mark the spots for hardware, then hang the pictures. Saves putting a lot of nail holes in the walls if you decide you don't like them there. If you don't want to go to all that trouble, then just move a large plant where the pictures were, or put a different picture or something that covers the holes.

i have found that those 3m releaseable hooks are great. I even used the velcro type to hang a door mirror.. the trick is wipe the wall with rubbing alcohol first. When you go to take it down make sure you pull straight down. the slightest angle will pull the paint off

white deodarant works well too!

Pepsi's suggestion is a good one, but if you clean the wall with rubbing alcohol, be sure to wait for it to dry before putting up your hooks.

Toothpaste is a great and cheap chaulk method. Just let it dry, smooth out and paint over. :) Or hand another picture in its place. http://www.connectingmoms.com/ohleinini.htm
