I want to remove the carpeting in the lower part of my house. I have been thinking of simulated wood flooring. The biggest problem is that the flow from the living room to dinning room to kitchen with no break where should I break the carpet. I can not afford to put it in the living room at the same time. This are bigrooms. And what about the seperate bathroom, laundry room and office.

If I could afford it I'd put it everywhere except the living room. I bet the people who install the flooring can give you advice on where to make the transition from carpet to laminate between the lving room and dining room. Possibly a doorway?

I had laminate wood installed and I am not very happy with the results. If you can afford it I would invest in regular hardwood flooring. I am noticing that the laminate floor cutls up slightly at the ends of the room where it connects to other flooring. And, I don't like the look of the seams. Although the stuff is easy to care for and durable I just don't like the look of it.

I put down a laminate floor (photo finish) it looks very nice but you have to be very careful not to get it wet - because the finish at the seams lifts slightly. Otherwise using a slightly dampened cloth it is easy to keep clean. Just remember when the manufacturer tells you not to use water directly on it - make sure you abide by their instructions.

I've only used a special floor care product made for laminate flooring. Still had the curling problem...especially at transition spots between rooms.

My advise would be to select a laminate floor brand that gives 10 years of warranty or more, which is of better quality. Visit the manufacturer’s website and review their installation instructions, this will give you an idea of how your installation should go and help you identify the best installation for the area. In regards to the break, you may do so at the middle of the width of an opening like an archway or at the stop trim at the door jambs (close the door and make the transition at the edge of the door outside the room) the threshold piece should be under the door. If you have a continuous wall, look at your traffic pattern ex: going around your dining table, and give about 2-5 feet of extra space. Good Luck!

I agree, if you can find a way to put something different down! I put laminate flooring in my first house and hated it and then put it in our current house, but chose a darker wood tone and we are actually ripping it out. The problem to me is the cleaning. If not dried immediately will show washing streaks and shows every drop of something, even clean foot prints show up on this stuff, however If your up for the maintenance it is beautiful! I don't think you have to run this floor into your bathrooms,ect.. and it is highly recommended from the floor companies to not put this type of flooring in laundry rooms. Just another opinion!
