glazing kitchen cabinets

I like the look of the glazed kitchen cabinets that you see now in alot of new homes. I have white cabinets now and would like to glaze them with a brownish tinted glaze. Has anyone out there done this type of technique themselves before or should I hire this one out?

Having doubts about glazing your cabinets . It's really simple . choose desired color make sure it is faux glaze , use 4 inch paint brush lightly dap in glaze, dap off a little on cloth , then start at top, making strokes as straight as possible, streaking effect,( or you can purchase streaking brush very wide , will do almost whole door, depends on area size you are working on) wait required time for curing, normally a week, then apply protective acrylic top to bottom only go one direction , directions on can. I have done several projects at my home only can be perfected with time. and of course trial and error. I textured my kitchen and entire den with glaze , the wonderful thing about it is if you mess up you can wipe off with damp cloth and start over. And acrylic is washable!! Goof Proof. You can purchase book at lowe's , home depot, or even attend one of their shops they have free of charge, just for the do your selfers!!! Good Luck
