fighting bathroom mildew

Cemented in Debt
it seems that i have a growing problem in my bathroom. seems like mildew is trying to take over. of course, i have the mildew remover but how do i get to the root of the problem? it's mainly on tiled walls around the tub and near the ceiling. i also have a window in the shower and it's on the window sill. i invested in an antibacterial bath mat in case i ever miss a spot but would love to know what other preventive/maintenance measures i can take

If you don't already have a good working exhaust fan in your bath, it would be very helpful to have one installed and then use it every time someone takes a shower. It helps tremendously to cut down on the moisture/humidity.Do your best to clean up the mold you already have, and then regularly (at least once or twice a week) spray and wipe down the whole shower area, including the window in the shower, walls, and around the tub with shower cleaners, disinfectant, or a solution of peroxide* in a spray bottle. You might replace the inside plastic shower curtain liner, or wash it regularly when it starts getting yucky.I know I hate having to do all that, so I don't do it very often. But when I do, I spray down the whole area from ceiling to floor and the shower curtain with some kind of disinfectant, then hit the tub and surround with scrubbing bubbles, scrub any soap scum and mildew with a used net bath puff, then throw it away. I got an e-mail recently about the many uses for hydrogen peroxide (3% solution), which is cheap and most people have on hand anyway. It has many uses, like 1st aid disinfectant, teeth whitener, mouthwash/gargle, treat a toothache, canker sores, boils, athlete's foot, or hair lightener. It can also be used as a household cleaner and disinfectant, to treat and prevent mildew, brighten whites, and as a glass cleaner.
