What is the best floor for a laundry room?

I'm moving my laundry room in order to make a new panty in the old laundry room. The space where I will be moving the laundry room has a bare concrete floor. I'm just perplexed at all the decisions. What is the best floor for a laundry room?

I'm thinking the bare concrete would be fine. If you want it to look nicer, it can be stained and polished, or painted with concrete paint or stain. At some point you're bound to have a water leakage problem with your washer, the drain, the faucet, or connecting hoses, so go with something that won't be easily damaged by water. You can always do ceramic tile or sheet vinyl if you think the bare concrete is too plain, but definitely don't go with wood, carpet, or stick on tiles.I'd even suggest using the "concrete" board type sheetrock (or marine board) in the walls in back of your washer and give any baseboard a coat or two of water seal.

Thanks. I'm beginning to like the painted or stained look on concrete. Then with a rug in front of the doors. It's a half-size room with French doors leading out to the deck. I'll remember to water seal the baseboard. That's good advice.

I am in the process of building a house right now and we put Slate in the laundry room. It is very beautiful and you don't have to worry about leaks!

Cork makes a great floor for a laundry room. It's resilient (comfy!) and provides some insulation from the cold concrete. The cork is naturally water resistant, but some engineered floors use cores that aren't, so look for a product that is all cork or has a water resistant core.
