Wearing out Leather Sofas

SaJa80
Hi All, I have a 2 yr old leather sofa which is kinda cracking up. I don't want to throw it away becasue i cannot afford a new one. But the cracks are showing up the old cloth(Or something) that's insdide and it's really embarassing when I have guests..Is there any way to fix it up? Thanks.

You could have it re-upholstered if replacing the sofa isn't an option. Perhaps they could match the existing color and only recover the seat cushions.

Another idea is to only get the seat cushions reupholstered in a contrasting color. I'm not a huge fan of the look myself, but I know some people like it. Or if you think you may be able to afford a new sofa in the next few months, an inexpensive slipcover or even just a throw might help for the short term.

If you purchased the sofa new, did it come with a warranty of any kind? Wouldn't hurt to call and ask. I have leather furniture and I got a warranty on it. Don't' remember how long, but it was either a very long one, or a lifetime warranty. It also came with a leather conditioning kit that keeps the leather soft, which helps extend the life of it. You can have leather re-upholstered, but it is expensive. Good leather does not crack after 2 years, so you might not want to invest in repairs, but instead invest in a new sofa, or a nice used one. You can always get some furniture throws, but good ones can cost close to $100. If it's just the seats that are cracking, you can just put a pretty sheet or blanket over the seats, and tuck it in under the cushions.
