Tropical Plant room
Jbot
I just purchased a house, the entry is a 20'X20' court yard which has been in closed with a 8'X8' opaque dome vaulted (avg ceiling height is 10') by a redwood and cedar ceiling. it has redbrick floors and redwood walls. since it was once outdoors there are two water faucets in the room. My wife is from Puerto Rico so I would like to make this her "home away from home" with plants from PR with maybe a small pond and stream. any ideas on what plants to use or any other thoughts would be appreciated. I am quite handy and would like to redo this room myself for her.

Sounds wonderful! Why not let your wife decide on the plants and decor? Surely she will want some input. If it won't be too cold for them in the winter, then you could fill the area with lots of greenery, and tall house plants, such as ficus, potted palm trees and hibiscus, all of varying heights. The pond idea is great, but I wouldn't know how to start with a stream. Any home improvement store, even Wal-mart has pond kits you can install yourself. Then you just cover the sides with rock or pavestones.
