Starting Southwestern
dutchman46
I am beginning to redecorate my living room and am wanting to go southwestern. My couch and loveseat are dark green, tan and black in color and southwestern in style. Thats as far as i've gotten i could use alot of help with wall color, coverings, trim, decorations, etc. I am at a total loss so any ideas you have would help.

Just don't go "over the top" and have every single piece of furniture, textile, and knick-knack southwestern also. Some neutral pieces and solid colors mixed in with the SW styled items will give you a little more harmony in the room. I have a friend that did her walls in a 2 toned ragged painting technique with a soft golden "buckskin" yellow and a brownish/rust color for a faux suede look. Dark brown leather furniture, and antique trunk, nondescript coffee and end tables, a SW wool blanket as a wall hanging, a rustic wood framed mirror, some iron lamps with leather laced edged shades, a few pieces of rustic and artisan pottery, and some rustic metal stars. All other items are fairly neutral styles. The overall look is very warm and inviting, and it is not overwhelmingly SW, but has a definite flavor.
