Need help mixing collections

My husband and I are talking about redoing our house but need some input. I collect lighthouses he collects all kinds of die casts tractors. We both like county stuff. Any good ideas on colors or how to decorate. We were thinking about doing separate rooms with our collections. Should we do this or is there a way to slightly mix them together?
