Hi.- I am an interior decorator and I wanted to ask you: would you be willing to paint the walls? because a light beige would look great with the floors and for the furniture maybe black leather or blue for the furniture and the window treatment could match the walls or the furniture. I hope this help.

i am willing to paint the walls but the only problem that i have is the furniture... the color of the furniture is dark brown.. is that a problem?

If you like a brighter feeling room (even a bit vintage), you may also try painting one of the walls red. I've seen this, and it looks great!

With a black and white floor and dark brown leather furniture, I'd personally go with a biege/light tan wall, and mostly neutral furnishings like dark bronze or brushed chrome/aluminum lamps, and throw in some accent decor items in black, white or off-white, and a bright color like orange or red in some throw pillows or upholstered chair. There's some really beautiful fall inspired oranges and deep muddy reds out right now.

I would add some beige and blue to the mix. Paint the walls beige, and add some light blue accessories. Light blue goes beautifully with both black and brown. Add some pieces containing all the colors to tie them all together.

Have you thought about area rugs? You can add whatever color to the room if you add it to the floor first. Are the floors black/white checkerboard pattern, or marbled, or what? Is it carpet, or linoleum? I'm not an interior designer, but I do have an MS in Clothing, textiles and design. If you pick up the color from an area rug in throw pillows and drapery, you can make it whatever you want it to be. Hope this helps Emily

If you have dark furniure and black on the floor, I'd use a warm, vibrant color for the walls; maybe not completely orange or red, but something like Sienna or Brick.
