Looking for Metallic/Pearly Paint. Help!

jess1957
Hi, I'm looking for some paint with a metallic or pearly kind of finish to it. I'm moving to a new house with a big master bedroom and I feel like plain matte paint will be too boring. I want something a little more interesting. I know Benjamin Moore has some kind of metallic paint but I've heard some bad thing about how it comes out. Does anyone know of any other kinds of paint with a metallic/pearly finish? Or has anyone had a good experience with Benjamin Moore metallic paint?? Thanks so much!

I don't have much personal experience with this, but usually if you find a knowledgeable person working at the paint store, or paint dept of you home improvement/hardware store, they can usually answer any specific questions. You might could just paint the room, then rag/sponge on the metallic accents over it for a two-toned effect.

I looked at my painting stuff and found a 15 oz container of Behr brand Pearlescent finishing glaze. It's a product you put on over the paint as an accent or painting technique. It recommends to apply with a sponge or rag technique, or a decorative roller for a pearly finish.I used it in my daughter's room years ago because she wanted clouds on her ceiling. I mixed it with a little paint for the finishing touches. It's not very noticeable, just when the light hits it just right.

Ralph Lauren has some metallic paints and they are available at Home Depot. I have to say, they work best on flat walls. I have textured walls and the metallic paint doesn't look as iridescent as I'd like.

I think there are some products out there that are like a super fine powder that you can mix with paint so that you can choose your own color and then add the pearlescence (is that a word?) to it.

Love the gray
Try Lowe's Signature metallic paint...great for ceilings or walls!
