L shaped stairs

keylina
When entering my home, you see a stair that goes to the 2nd floor, it turns to the left continues up. I am painting my living room a new color, so how do you break from where the stairs stops and turns left with colors? It is now a off while color and would like to leave the hall going up off white. But wont that look funny? HELP PLEASE.gasmiles77@hotmail.com

Is there any way you could post a picture?

there is a mirror and shelf already at the top of the landing. you see it when you first enter the door. i want to paint that landing the same as my living room now, but as you turn to go on up stairs the hall is white and i want to leave that white.

If I'm understanding your description, you go up a few stairs to a landing, turn left and continue up the stairs. If so, I'd probably paint the wall that has the mirror and shelf on the landing the same color as the living room. The corner where you turn to proceed up the stairs to the 2nd level would seem to be a natural break for leaving the paint color white. Let me know how it turns out, ok?

At each break, why don't you go with different shades of the same color, from lighter to darker, or the other way around? Like white, off white, beige, taupe, mocha, or whatever color you want to go with.
