newtexasmom
Hi,I am looking for nice big floor vases to put near my fireplace. May be around 24" and more tall. Also to combine a small round one, large tall one to create the striking look with different shapes and sizes. But i need with a kid safe material and not any ceramic, glass as i am sure they will get broke within 2 days i put them down on floor.May be like Wood, Bamboo etc.Any ideas or places or websites that i can check??Thanks

Nice idea!Have you tried a hobby store, like Michael's? You might also find something that is meant to be used outdoors - so you could try a garden center, or the gardening section of Target.

I usually check Hobby Lobby, Garden Ridge, Michael's, JoAnne's Fabrics, Big Lots, and even Wal-Mart, Target, Lowe's, and Home Depot for containers of all kinds. If you have Pier One or any import or garden type stores near you, they might have something. I've occasionally seen large vases or urns in various lightweight metals, faux stone, or plastic/composite/fiberglass stuff. You might could also use something smaller on a pedestal, with another one on the floor in front of it. And have you considered large wicker/basket vase type containers? I have a 4.5' tall basket I purchased years ago at an import store when I got my first apartment. The larger base of it is about 24" in diamether, then it has a tall, narrow neck. I put those tall dried plumes in it. Hmmm, actually, they are so old now, they're back in style. I might have to pull it out of storage.

I have a tall metal vase in black that I bought from Joann's. It is really nice and pretty kid safe. But when I was looking for a floor vase, I saw many in bamboo, reed and wood. Some are even painted in plain or patterns. I think these would really work for you as they don't break and they don't even hurt much if someone walks - or in this case, runs - into them.
