I recently found this online store with lots of great home decor items at a low price. I love it, but i need ideas on how to use this merchandise to maximize the beauty of my home. I was wondering if anyone could look at the site http://www.1stclasshomedecor.com and give me some ideas. Tell me what you like! I really need this help Because I'm a single mom and don't have too much money to spend. Let me know of any ideas please and i will greatly appreciate it thank you.

Hi there, that is a pretty cool site. I have another one for you, have you heard of Collections Etc.? I am currently buying my first house and have a few suggestions. If you pick a "theme" it will be easier to get little items here and there to tie the look together for not much money. For example I am going with a Woodlands/Rustic theme so I am going to use paint to create the color look that I want and then some small items here and there and wall hangings. It also makes it easier to buy stuff beacuse you can put "rustic decor" into a search engine and retailers with those items will come up. Some themes you could do would be Beach House which has lots of whites and blues, nautical stuff. Worldly with old maps and pictures of locales, African or Celtic or other Cultural backgrounds, old farmhouse stuff, etc. Have fun with it. Also check your local Craigslist.com under For Sale there is a free section where people give stuff away you just have to go pick it up. Also see if your area has Freecycle.org chapter. That way you could get inspiration from the items you pick up and build the look around the piece. I am attaching the links for a good search engine to use as well a a retailer that has good prices that lets you pick items by theme. Good Luck P.S I had links to the store i mentioned and to a cool search engine but they got flagged as spam, sorry for any confusion.

My advice is to never buy anything unless it serves a purpose - a vase that looks great empty or full; baskets that organize and gives a clean look; group similar things in 3's or 5's in varying heights. Candles are always terrific - instead of votives, buy the larger ones and set them in pretty dishes from a flea market. Flea Markets! Slipcovers! If you sew, go to Slipcovers.com - you can purchase great videos that will give clear step-by-step instructions for sofas, chairs. Fill wall space with matching themed plates - all roses, all green rimmed, etc. Keep a color scheme going. Go larger rather than a lot of tiny things that will get lost and will end up looking like clutter. Good luck!

I downsized from almost 4000 s.f to about 2600 and decided to either store or just get rid of a lot of furniture and "things." Especially all those high maintenance "things" that need a lot of dusting. What I have found really works for me is a few well-placed accessories with character. So now I rarely spend money. I have some original art and buy additional artwork from antique stores (trust me, you can find these for pennies and repaint frames), throw rugs and wall paint. These have worked wonders, kept my budget in line, and generated lots of compliments from visitors. It might be helpful to let us know what rooms you think are lacking (functionality, cohesive style, color, etc., and we can provide more useful input. Also, do your tastes run toward Traditional, Contemporary...?) PS I have also made utensil racks and paper towel holders for about $5 using materials from the plumbing dept. of Home Depot as well as valances using placemats, cabinet fronts using leftover wood, even turning yucky cheap white bathroom tile into black and white tile. I'm not a carpenter or otherwise talented, just wanted to test myself and have some fun. I bet you could tackle things like that too to save money and have one-of-a-kind pieces in your home.
