Decorating 1922 livingroom advice
ALOLCO
We're moving to a house next month, our first home. It's a 1922 farm house style bungalow in a semi-historic district. We will be needing a new entertainment center. The one we currently have we're trying to sell before the move since it's not worth moving really. Here's the problemI'm worried about how a 'new' entertaiment unit will look in the house. DH wants to get an armiore (SP?) to hide the TV but we're not sure the style. I also want to get a matching large coffee table to do games and things with the kids on, taking the focus off the TV. We're having a friend make a large builtin bookcase which is common for the style home. It has hardwood floors and a TON of windows so I'm not sure a corner unit will work but with all the windows we don't have really anywhere else to go with the TV but there. We're going to measure tomorrow at the inspection. We're also buying an old upright piano which has spindle legs in the front. Here's a link to the house http://www.realtor.com/Prop/1063895523The livingroom isn't shown much but you can see the style of the home. THe fireplace is fake and we're taking it out when we paint before move in. We don't have a lot of money to buy something actually antique but I'm wondering what a solution could be?Thanks, Crystal

can you incorporate it into the built in shelving?

You might try saving the moldings/front panels from the fireplace and incorporating them into a cabinet to hold the TV. Have your friend build another shelf unit there and use doors with paned glass ( as the top windows you have) as doors for the bottom. Games and videos will be handy for the kids. Place the TV on top of the unit. Leave open or enclose for more storage. Good luck!
