Christmas Lights Installation
newtexasmom
Hi,We were considering to put the lights on the roof tops and edges of the house this year. I was searching online for quotes and some of them came back with $175.0 for installing and taking them down. But he doesn't cover any insurance. Now i am really concerned as i hear that if people get injured while installing the lights so high up, it can be costly. Does this mean that if god forbiddes, anything happens to the person, I need to pay for his medical? And what about any kind of damage to my house roof top?or any kind of fire accident and circuit breakage etc?Did anyone have any kind of previous experiences with the lights? I really don't want my holidays to turn to a nightmare. How much do they charge usually for a 2 story house to install C-9 lights along the roof top edges??Thanks.

If, God forbid, someone gets injured on your property, your homeowner's insurance would probably cover it. Minus your deductible. Always better to deal with licensed professionals that have their own liability insurance. I don't know how much the going rate is to install lights on a 2-story, or even a 1-story, as we've never hired anyone. Partly because of personal preference and that I feel we should conserve energy/resources, partly because of the added work of putting up and taking down, and also the added expense of the higher electric bill, we don't usually put up a lot of lights. Plus we are usually out of town over the holiday. One year we had a fully decorated Christmas tree on the front porch (explanation on the "fake vs. real tree thread). We usually just put up a few lights around the front windows and front porch, then decorate the porch with garland, poinsettias, ribbon, and wreaths. If we had a front walk, luminarias are a pretty alternative. For Christmas I tend to prefer the religious or at least old world charm like a "Charles Dickens" theme for decorations, as it has more meaning for me than cartoon snowmen, and penguins with Santa hats. But because you have young children, I'm sure they'd prefer tons of lights and the "cute stuff" over poinsettias and garland.
