Carpet Stains

Hi,I need some tips on Carpet Stains. I have kids and most of my friends have kids. So when ever there is party at home, i am in big trouble for mess on carpets and couches.I have tried so many stain removers like Resolve and other brands that go for stain removal. But none of them work except soaking the carpet.I can still the spots of the stains after it dries.Does anyone know of a real good carpet stain remover???Also, how can i clean my suede couches if there are any stains on them? I do use damp paper towel and rub the spot and around it. I also use Febreeze but i think this is more of a freshner than stain remover. Thanks

I've never found a really good one either. For spot treating light colored carpet I use OxyClean or Biz (non-chlorine laundry bleach), or a friend of mine uses Wisk or "Mean Green" (an all-purpose cleaner found at many dollar stores). I blot the spot, soak it with cleaner, scrub it, then let it sit a few minutes, then sponge/rinse as best I can. Then I vacuum it up with a shop vac or handheld wet/dry vac or blot it up with towels. Usually I just call the carpet cleaners to come do it, and get them to pre-treat the stains. It's good to clean the carpets once a year anyway, more if you have kids.I also have this little booklet on stain removal, I got it years ago in the grocery check-out line. It recommends using dry cleaning solvent for a lot of things, but it is flammable, poisonous, and has dangerous fumes, so you might not want to use it around kids. Different stains call for different treatment, so it really depends on what type of stain as to what cleaner to use. The booklet mentions that cleaning suede and leather is very tricky because the oils and dyes will run and react with cleaners. It says if it gets wet, that it should be dried with air at room temperature only, and doesn't say much else about it. (ask the carpet cleaners)The Febreeze is only a freshener, not a cleaner. It may smell good, but I haven't had much luck with it removing odors, they come right back as soon as the scent wears off.

This is such a coincidence! I was at the neighbor's house and she was cleaning her carpet herself with a rented machine. She went on and on about this new stuff she found, and insisted on giving me a little sample bottle to take home.Well, it was late so I just sprayed 2 or 3 spots, then rubbed at it with a towel and went to bed. Well, it worked too good, because now I have these lighter colored circles in my dingy living room carpet. So now I'll have to do the whole floor, and that means I can't goof off this weekend. Oh well, it needed it anyway. It's called "A to Z" carpet stain remover, and she said it was $3 at Wal-Mart!

I have tried carpet stain removers and had carpets with brown stains...I would try to rent a carpet shampooer. They are usually available to rent at the supermarket, and they work pretty well. But not as good as a professional carpet cleaner, which is worth the price if your carpet has alot of spots and/or is in a high traffic area, and they usually do furniture too.
