Can't decide what to paint the office/kid's room

seagrass
I have three bedrooms in my house, the master I painted a jewel-toned aqua color, the guest room I painted a very dainty pale blue. I have dark brown beams and tongue-in-groove vaulted ceilings that are also dark brown. I started to paint the 3rd room a cocoa color, but it was waay too brown in there, so I painted the top half of the walls white with a slight pink hue. It's acceptable for now, but I don't love it. I'm using the room as my office and it may potentially be a kid's room (which I could just repaint when that happens). The room faces south, so it can get pretty warm in there. I also have a dark brown stained office furniture. It's WAY TOO BROWN in there!! I can't decide what color to paint because most of my house is Sage green, my bathroom is lavender, and my basement is yellow. I like colors - always wanted to paint a room pumpkin orange but I think it would be too hot and dark in there? I hate neutral colors like grey and beige. Help!

Browns and blues are really pretty together. In my search for the perfect soft silvery blue (for my kitchen), I have found several great shades...california paint tudor ice is a pretty soft blue with a touch of green and gray in it, benj moore glass slipper is a very soft grayish blue as is beach glass but it is a lighter shade and benj moore north shore green is a similar beachy shade but more green than blue. I think any of these shades would look great with the brown you have and will look modern and sophisticated.

:) I love your choices of color. Ju-ju gives very good advice. I still love the idea of pumpkin orange. If you think it will be too dark, leave it on an accent wall and paint the rest of the walls a lighter shade of pumpkin. Like Benjamin Moore's melon popsicle, morning sunshine or funky fruit. (Depending on how yellow your orange is). Or you could try a dusty pink. B Moore's Pink Eraser or Pink Pearl are beautiful. That's big coming from me because I usually don't like pinks. But these are really sophisticated. Final suggestion: Try a limeish green? Looks gorgeous with brown. B Moore's limelight or grape green are beautiful.

....If this room may be a child's room at a later date...perhaps a soft green shade which is both neutral and gender non-specific....I'm actually considering a spa-like green from benj. moore called mosaic glass for my master bedroom (I'm still seriously undecided, but that is another issue, hahaha) which has dark brown wood furniture with white curtains and linens.....
