Bedroom set to match bedroom

asaholt
I am moving into a new place and the bedroom ceiling is a finished hard wood, which is darker in color. I am wondering what color bedroom set to get. Do I look to match it to that darker wood, or should I look for something lighter to brighten the room and stand out?? Open to everyone's suggestions, thnx!

I'm sure I'll get a lot of flack here, but you can always paint the wood so it won't stand out (or lighten it with a "bleaching" or antiquing effect). If it is high quality, of historical or sentimental value it's probably best to leave it alone, or remove it carefully and use it somewhere else. If you leave it, I think you should choose whatever furniture you like! (If it was me, I would pick something in a similar wood tone, then go with all light colored bedding and accessories to make it the "dark wall" and keep the room from looking to dark/drab.
