Bathroom redecorating/remodeling help, please! Enormous bathtup - what to do?
MsJane00
Hi, thanks for clicking on this. I really need help deciding how to redecorate or renovate our master bedroom's bathroom. We currently have a bathtub the size of a jacuzzi - it's about 2.5 times the size of a regular bathtub. We never use it because it is impractical - too much water wasted! It is in-ground with three surrounding walls. What can I do to make it more inviting, or at the very least, practical? We do not have any decorations or anything like that. I doubt we will use it soon. Do you also have any off-the-wall suggestions about what we can do with it, other than use it as a bathtub? Thanks so much!

My first thought is to add plants of all kinds, candles, pretty baskets of bath products and accessories, line the walls with mirrors or murals, or just get some decorating advice to make it look better. If it has a window or skylight and you want to leave the tub in place, you could line it with heavy plastic and use it for a planter full of tropical plants. Cover/camouflage the outside with natural looking stones or faux stone veneer. You might could cover the tub with a platform and customized cushions for a "daybed" type seating/reading area or window seat. If it has no window or skylight you could line it and turn it into an indoor pond/fountain, again covering the outside with stones or stone veneer, or glass it in for a sauna, or add a skylight and glass walls/doors and use it for a plant atrium by just putting a platform over the tub and camouflaging it somehow (black gardening cloth, pea gravel, mulch) and placing potted plants on top of it. You could remove the tub and use the space for a built in "safe room"/vault, extra closet, put in a tanning bed, exercise equipment (line it with mirrors), or my favorite: a small "bistro" seating area with a little mini kitchenette/bar area (coffee, small fridge, bar set, wine & glasses, a small TV and travel posters) making your master suite into a little retreat. P.S. My husband suggested you fill it with Jello or mud and play in it.... I know, real helpful.

Thanks for the suggestions! I like the jello/mud idea, too
